Procedure for Identification and Handling of Appeals

The Editorial Board of Linguistic Studies follows a policy of openness and responds promptly to inquiries, comments, or reports of violations of scholarly ethics. The handling of appeals is carried out according to the following procedure:

1. Receipt and identification of information
  • Communication channels: appeals are accepted via the journal’s official e-mail address. Submissions must include a clear description of the issue, a reference to the specific material in question, and substantiated evidence (in cases of alleged plagiarism, conflicts of interest, or factual errors).
  • Anonymity: anonymous appeals are considered only if they are supported by convincing factual evidence of a violation.

2. Review and investigation procedure
  • Initial assessment: the Editor-in-Chief or the responsible secretary conducts a preliminary review of the appeal within 7 working days;
  • Ethics committee: for complex cases (e.g., suspected plagiarism or data manipulation), a temporary working group is established from among members of the Editorial Board, with independent experts involved when necessary;
  • Right of reply: the Editorial Board обязательно contacts the author of the publication concerned to request explanations.

The Editorial Board informs both the complainant and the author of the outcome of the review in writing. The final decision is published on the journal’s website if it affects the status of the published material.
