Information on Article Processing and Publication Fees (or Their Absence)

The journal Linguistic Studies follows an open access model, which entails costs related to editorial processing, preparation, and publication of scholarly materials.

1. Article Processing Charge (APC)

Publication in the journal requires payment of an Article Processing Charge (APC), which covers the following expenses:

2. Payment procedure
  • Peer review is free of charge: the Editorial Board does not charge any submission fee or peer-review fee;
  • Payment after acceptance: the invoice for the APC is issued to the author only after the manuscript has successfully passed peer review and has been accepted for publication by the Editorial Board;
  • Transparency: payment of the APC does not guarantee publication if the manuscript fails to meet scholarly quality standards.
3. Publication fee

The publication fee is UAH 55 per page of a manuscript formatted in accordance with the journal’s requirements.

4. Waiver policy

The Editorial Board may consider partial or full waivers of the APC for:

The electronic version of the journal is free of charge for all readers.

5. Full waiver for early-stage researchers (PhD candidates)

Linguistic Studies supports early-career researchers and implements a policy of full waiver of all fees (processing, peer review, and publication) for articles submitted by third-cycle higher education students (PhD candidates) enrolled in state-funded (budget) programs, provided that the article is single-authored (no co-authors).

Implementation mechanism:

  • Status verification: to obtain the waiver, the author must submit, together with the manuscript, an official certificate from the doctoral (postgraduate) office of the higher education institution or research organization confirming enrollment in a state-funded program;
  • Conditions: the waiver applies only to single-authored articles;
  • Procedure: such manuscripts undergo the standard double-blind peer review process on equal terms with other submissions, ensuring high scholarly quality regardless of financial considerations.
