Deviations in speech production processes (stage of categorization)

Typical cases of deviations arising at the stage of categorisation of speech-thought aspects formed during the speaker’s (addresser’s) segmentation of the initial intention are analysed. The main causes of non-usual operation with the components of proto-meaning, which constitute the categorical content of this integral formation as a speech-thinking frame (engram), are identified: (a) decategorisation (loss of categorical features), (b) hypercategorisation (overgeneralisation of semantic components of a category), and (c) cognitive shift (displacement of categorical components). Prospects for further deviation studies of spontaneous oral speech are outlined.
